Water & Sanitation > Water & Sanitation

Since inception BCT has been involved in conservation of water resources because the areas served by BCT are generally characterized by an insufficiency of natural resources, especially potable water. Following programs were undertaken till March, 2011

Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting (RWHP)

This project was implemented in 70 villages of Churu district (2008-2010) in partnership with Safe Water Network. During the first phase (2008) BCT constructed 200 Household Tanks and repaired 7 Community Tanks in 15 villages of Churu. In the second phase (2009-10) 750 Household Tanks (300 for BPL families) were constructed and 33 Community Tanks were refurbished in 55 villages of Churu. Local masons were also trained through this program

Promotion of Rainwater Harvesting in Nagaur

An initiative in partnership with Indiabulls Foundation, New Delhi and IIHMR, Jaipur in a new project area commenced from March, 2011 to provide safe drinking water and sanitation facilities through construction of Rainwater Harvesting Structures having 15000 capacity liters (300 individual kunds) and refurbishment of 10 community kunds and construction of 90 Low Cost Toilets in 10 villages of Nagaur.
Now, we are free from drinking water problem and drink clean water. We keep our home clean and we are all well. Thanks to BCT

Sanitation Program

In 1984, BCT initiated efforts in the villages of Rajgarh Block (Churu district) with the construction of 100 Low cost latrines (LCLs) in individual houses, with 10% contribution from the beneficiaries. This has been transformed into a mass movement which led to the construction of more than 40000 Low Cost Latrines (LCLs) in the villages of Churu and its adjoining districts.
