Other Programmes > Started earning for family

I am Manjoo Devi, age 35 years from village Gol of Aspur block, distt,. Dungarpur, Rajasthan. I got married very early at an age of 14 years. My husband is a migrant agriculture labourer, due to seasonal employment it was very difficult for us to meet out the routine expenses of the family including three kids. Under SHG Program supported by NABARD, I along with 11 other women met with BCT staff and thereafter formed and started a Laxminarayan Self Help Group with a saving of Rs. 50 per month. In 2010, I took a loan of Rs. 20,000/- from the group and started a tailoring shop in the village. Now I am earning an extra income of Rs. 1500 to Rs.2000/- per month, this made me financially more secured as I am not only raising my family but also I have increased my saving contribution from Rs. 50 to Rs. 100 per month in the group. My total savings in the group is Rs. 6,600.00/- and I am planning to avail another loan of Rs. 50,000/- for the construction a room for my son and also to expand the bangle business. Everyone in family are happy, kids are healthy and going to school regularly. Recently group has decided to provide an interest free loan to all its members for the construction of a toilet unit in their home.
