BCT’s
Management of Natural Resources & Disaster Mangement program focusses on developing sustainable development and management practices in exploiting natural resources.
Some of the projects undertaken by BCT to demonstrate sustainable developemental and management practices are:
- Renovation of traditional drinking water sources like Kunds, Wells or Johad in 86 villages in 97 structures which can be utilized during droughts.
- Watershed development program under which one Johad , 2 community kunds and 41 farm ponds.
- Construction of 34 community dug wells, kunds, johad and repair of 40 old drinking water structures.
- Plantation of trees and developing pasture land.
- Running 50 fodder depots during drought.
Natural disasters wreck havoc to the lives of people and their animal stock. To help alleviate human and animal suffering during natural calamities like drought, BCT undertakes a number of initiatives such as
- Distributing approximately 40 trucks of fodder per day to help cattle owners maintain their livestock assets.
- Drinking water distribution through tankers during summer.
- Distribution of blankets & quilts to needy persons during winter.
