Women Empowerment %26 SHG > MPOWER Project, Sankara, Jaisalmer
MPOWER (Mitigating Poverty in Western Rajasthan) is a poverty reduction initiative, supported by IFAD, SRTT & Govt. of Rajasthan, being implemented in 20 GP’s covering 119 villages of Sankhra block, Tehsil Pokhran of district Jaisalmer since March 2013. The major objectives of this project are to secure and enhance present livelihoods, to enhance the income of poor people by creating employment opportunities for a sustainable livelihood and women empowerment, linking of 5623 BPL families with 380 SHGs through the Federation attaining financial sustainability.
Project progress of this year is as under -Â
- 380 SHGs formed.
- 380 SHGs detailed on Sakh Darpan.
- 380 SHGs registered with BPMU.
- 380 Bank Accounts opened.
- 157 Linked with Bank.
- 303 SHGs Graded.
- 10 Pashu Sakhi Trained
- 30 Krishi Sakhi Trained
- 155 Youths identified & trained for skill training.
Overall, around 5600 females got benefited out of which 60% females are from BPL families where as 40% females from APL families. Other activities like Agriculture & crop demonstration, Goat cluster formed and sanctioned, Health camps for animals, Water tanks constructed, Drudgery activities and Skill based trainings for youth were carried out under the MPOWER Project to improve the quality of life of the poor.
