Information, Education & Communication (IEC) initiatives in Rural Drinking Water Schemes of PHED, Government of Rajasthan: Water supply from Public Stand Posts (PSP) in rural (and urban) areas is free of cost. However, in Aapni Yojana, which has been declared as “Special Project” for water tariff purposes, cost recovery is being done for water being supplied through PSPs.
The main objective of IEC activities is to initiate and support Village Level Committees (VWSC) that looks after operation & maintenance of water supply inside the village.

This ensures project’s sustainability, revenue collection and benefits’ maximization. Being engaged with 7 Rural Drinking Water Supply Schemes through Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and 2 with Pratibha Industries, This year, BCT was & presently working in more than 1826 Villages and 4000 Habitations of Rajasthan state for IEC activities whose details as follows -

1. Community Managed Water supply Scheme (PHED, Bungi, Rajgarh, Churu) - Aapni Yojana Phase-III [July 2013] - IEC activities in 188 villages (175 villages of Churu & 13 villages of Jhunjhunu) in partnership with L&T for a period of 15 months (Aug, 2013-Oct.2014).
2. IEC activities in 97 villages of Didwana-Ladnun (Nagaur) Lift Water supply Project-Phase-II - in partnership with L&T. (September 03, 2013-Sep.2016).
3. IEC activities in 256 villages of Ratangarh - Sujangarh- L&T (October, 2013).
4. IEC activities in 111 villages of Pali - Water supply Project - in partnership with L & T (November, 2013)
5. IEC activities in 258 villages of Khetri-Jhunjhunu - L&T (December, 2013).
6. Capacity building & IEC activities in 170 villages of Phagi (Jaipur) under Regional Water Supply Scheme in partnership with Pratibha Industries.
7. Capacity building & IEC activities in 178 villages of Phulera (Jaipur) under Regional Water Supply Scheme in partnership with Pratibha Industries.
8. Capacity building & IEC activities in 234 villages of Pokhran, Falsoond, Balotara & Siwan Lift Water Project in partnership with L & T.
9. Capacity building & IEC activities in 334 villages of Banswara & Pratapgarh under Regional Water Supply Scheme in partnership with L & T (Jun 10, 2014).

The above schemes aims at community ownership and thus Village Water & Sanitation Committees (VWSC) are formed and strengthened through IEC activities.
